About the role
As Manager Safety and Productivity Systems you will lead the delivery of innovative, user-centric digital services, applications, and GIS spatial solutions that enhance NHVR’s customer and industry engagement.
The position will have a key focus on ensuring the effective management and continuous development of online business systems and GIS platforms, aligning with strategic objectives to maximise business value.
Key responsibilities of this role are:
- Manage the development and implementation of technology roadmaps for customer-facing safety and productivity systems in alignment with NHVR’s organisational and digital enablement strategies.
- Work with product owners in driving innovation by identifying and incorporating emerging technologies to enhance customer and industry-facing applications and GIS solutions.
- Oversee the development and management of NHVR's online business systems, delivering seamless and user-friendly interactions for industry stakeholders and customers.
- Ensure the accurate development, maintenance, and operation of spatial systems, and GIS tools.
- Champion faster feedback loops for software and application development, ensuring iterative improvements and timely delivery of business value.
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team of technical professionals, contractors, and vendors involved in the design, development, and maintenance of the digital products and services.
- Build organisational capability by empowering team members, improving processes, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

About you
To be successful in this role you will possess a minimum of 5 years of proven expertise in delivering and managing customer-facing applications and complex GIS systems, with a focus on digital transformation.
Your toolkit for success:
- Proven expertise in delivering complex system to system and business to business integration projects in large-scale, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Proficiency in leveraging emerging technologies such as cloud computing, APIs, and automation tools for system improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams that include software developers, business analysts, and user experience professionals, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Familiarity with governance frameworks, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Experience in implementing business continuity and capacity management strategies.
- Knowledge of NHVR’s operational ecosystem or similar heavy vehicle, government-regulated industries is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of technology trends and challenges related to customer engagement and spatial data management.

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
