About Us

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is seeking a dynamic and proactive People and Culture Business Partner to join our team. In this role you will provide proactive and contemporary business partnering support to NHVR leaders within selected client groups. Working closely with leadership teams, you will diagnose, design, and execute strategies across the employee lifecycle. By leveraging our People and Culture Centre of Excellence, you’ll ensure the delivery of high-quality services that drive a safe, performance-driven, and compliant culture. The role will require regular travel and offers a hybrid working model, allowing you to balance flexibility with in-office collaboration. The role can be based in Brisbane or Melbourne this is a permanent, full-time role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People and Culture Business Partnering: Work closely with client group leaders, supporting them with practical HR solutions that align with business goals and priorities.
  • People and Culture Services: Leverage the People and Culture Centre of Excellence to deliver people priorities and provide insights that drive business improvement.
  • Policy Recommendations: Advise on and update People and Culture policies as needed, ensuring they meet organisational needs.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilise people data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for business leaders.
  • Cyclical Activity Support: Support leaders in executing their business plans, focusing on people-related activities.
  • Coaching and Guidance: Provide coaching and support to leaders in areas including team management, resource planning, performance, and conflict resolution. Delivering Training to the Leadership groups.
  • Organisational Change: Manage the organisational redesign process, capability requirements, and consultations with client groups.

 Skills and Capabilities:

  • Establish trusted relationships with people leaders and engage in business discussions to create practical and impactful HR programs.
  • Influence leaders to improve business performance through effective use of the employee lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate the ability to remain objective while addressing sensitive and complex matters at all leadership levels.
  • Apply foundational knowledge of employee relations and contemporary HR practices.
  • Knowledge of change management and project management principles, with a focus on consultation.
  • Tailor communication styles to suit various audiences, ensuring clarity and engagement.
  • Demonstrate experience in enhancing PSC initiatives that drive employee engagement, leader relationships, and align with strategic goals.
  • Advise and interpret HR policies and procedures for business leaders effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Employee Relations/Industrial Relations, Social Sciences, or Business.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a generalist HR role within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Proven track record in proactively supporting business leaders with practical and impactful HR solutions.
  • Strong understanding of commercial performance indicators and HR metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Experience in interpreting business strategy and its operational application.
