        NHVR is seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Specialist to join our team at our Newstead Head Office. In this critical role, you will lead and strengthen NHVR’s data governance and management practices, ensuring compliance, regulatory capability, and effective use of data across the organisation.

        You will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing data quality, security, and stewardship, while maturing NHVR’s enterprise-wide approach to data governance. This includes navigating the implications of privacy legislation and ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and objectives.

        Leveraging your expertise, you will identify opportunities to unlock value from NHVR’s data assets, enabling improved efficiency, informed decision-making, and positioning data as a strategic business asset. You will also lead and drive the alignment of data sharing practices between NHVR and its clients, vendors, and partners, ensuring consistency, trust, and compliance.

        Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

        • Develop, implement, and maintain data governance strategies, policies, and frameworks aligned to organisational objectives.
        • Establish and sustain effective data stewardship practices across the organisation.
        • Define, monitor, and continuously improve data quality standards, including data catalogues, lineage, and libraries, in collaboration with Data Managers and Security Engineers.
        • Monitor compliance with data governance policies, escalate issues as required, and contribute to NHVR’s risk management framework.
        • Oversee data access, privacy, and security controls to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
        • Maintain oversight and currency of NHVR’s Asset Register.
        • Partner with senior stakeholders and business units to improve data maturity, accuracy, and adoption.
        • Lead change management and training initiatives to embed data governance principles and promote a data-aware culture.
        • Identify and mitigate data-related risks in collaboration with Privacy, Data & Technology, and Legal teams.
        • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including representing NHVR in industry forums and working groups.
        • Adhere to NHVR policies, procedures, and WH&S requirements, contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.

         Skills and Capabilities

        • In-depth understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices with ability to design and
        • implement data governance policies and procedures.
        • Familiarity with data management tools, metadata repositories, and data lineage solutions.
        • Knowledge of data modelling, data quality assessment, and data cataloguing.
        • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders.
        • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
        • Experience leading organizational change related to data governance.
        • Experience in managing data governance projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
        • Demonstrated strong written communication skills including the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex
        • issues and risks in high level documentation including reports, briefings, business cases and presentations.
        • Working knowledge of existing and relevant data laws and their adherence to the industry standards and emerging
        • best practices

        Qualifications and Experience

        • 3 years+ experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
        • Understanding of privacy laws, data protection regulations, compliance requirements and data industry standards.
