The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is seeking a Senior Portfolio Specialist to join our Data and Technology Division in Brisbane. This pivotal role sits within the Strategy and Architecture Unit, where you'll lead the development and implementation of IT governance frameworks, assurance services, and scalable methodologies that support the successful delivery of complex initiatives.

As a trusted advisor to project teams and stakeholders, you'll drive continuous improvement and embed portfolio management practices that enable benefit realisation and strategic alignment. Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Governance & Frameworks: Design and oversee governance structures to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Methodology Development: Create and train staff on portfolio, program, and project management methodologies.
  • Assurance & Risk Management: Conduct health checks and reviews to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Benefits Management: Align portfolio frameworks with strategic goals and track performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and build organisational capability.
  • Process Improvement: Implement automation and data-driven solutions to enhance portfolio delivery.
  • Troubleshooting: Stabilise underperforming projects through root cause analysis and corrective actions.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess

Highly Regarded:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, IT, or project management.
  • Certifications like PRINCE2, MSP, SAFe, MoP.
  • 10+ years in IT project/program management, especially in large, complex portfolios.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, PMBOK, and tools like MS Project Online, Jira.
