About the role
Are you passionate about road safety and compliance? Join the NHVR as a Senior Safety and Compliance Officer and play a key role in ensuring the safe and lawful operation of heavy vehicles on our roads.
Based in Penrith, this frontline position is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service through both education and enforcement in line with road transport laws, regulations, and NHVR policies. You'll be working on the ground to uphold national and state-wide safety strategies, engaging with industry stakeholders, and taking action to improve compliance across the heavy vehicle sector.
The position reports directly to the Principal Safety and Compliance Officer and is responsible for the monitoring and enforcement of the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) regarding heavy vehicles, drivers, operators and other parties in the Chain of Responsibility.
Your key responsibilities will include:

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
What’s on offer
Upon commencement, you will start a comprehensive, six-month training program that involves practical, online and on the job training. Candidates can expect to travel to Parramatta for the first 2 weeks of training. Over the course of the program, you may travel on occasion to attend training, being away from home for up to a week at a time.
Salary $143,368 plus superannuation plus applicable allowances.
