About the role
An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Media and Communications professional to join the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Corporate Affairs division and make an immediate impact. As part of a dynamic and high-performing Media and Communications team, you will play a key role in delivering strategic communications initiatives that support organisational priorities and stakeholder engagement. This is a temporary full-time position for a period of 10 months. The preferred location for the role is Parramatta, although Brisbane will also be considered for the right candidate.
Reporting to the Manager Media and Communications, you will have a balance of internal and external responsibilities. Internally, the Media and Communications Advisor create CEO and executive communications and works across the NHVR’s business areas to assist with communications needs. Externally, you will be responsible for responding to media enquiries and producing media releases and media alerts and producing our industry and local government e-newsletters. Working with a family-friendly team, we offer a supportive, hybrid work environment. Being a communications role, there may be a requirement to undertake occasional on-call work outside of business hours.
About You
You will hold tertiary qualifications in media, communications, or a related discipline, supported by foundational experience in a similar role—ideally with at least three years’ proven experience in a comparable environment. While social media expertise is not essential, experience using Adobe editing software and media monitoring platforms will be highly regarded. Can work confidently and independently, taking pride in using your strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster productive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. With exceptional attention to detail and well-developed time management skills, you excel under pressure and can successfully manage multiple concurrent projects within tight deadlines. Critical to your success in this role is the ability to hit the ground running, adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, and rapidly build knowledge to support our upcoming events and campaigns.
