About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced media and communications professional to join the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Corporate Affairs division on a maximum term contract for 10-months. Working within a dynamic and high-performing Media and Communications team, the Senior Media and Communications Officer will lead and deliver strategic communications initiatives across the organisation. This role plays a key part in shaping and promoting NHVR’s messaging, supporting organisational priorities, and engaging key stakeholders. As this is a communications-focused role, there may be a requirement to undertake occasional on-call duties outside standard business hours. At a high level, you will develop various media and communications materials and products including project collateral, media releases, media responses, internal communications, columns, and other marketing and promotional materials. You will also produce communications strategies and materials such as speeches, briefs, talking points, presentations, and submissions for a variety of settings, including C suite communications. The position will be based at our Newstead Head Office, located in the vibrant Gasworks precinct, which is close to public transport, cafes, and offer end-of-trip facilities.
About you
You will hold tertiary qualification in media, journalism, public relations, or a related field, you will bring substantial experience, ideally seven or more years in a comparable role. You will demonstrate a proven ability to operate at a strategic level, providing expert advice and leadership on media and communication strategies across multiple channels within an organisation. As a skilled writer, you have the demonstrated ability, enthusiasm and attention to detail needed to conceptualise, develop and implement compelling media and communications plans. With excellent time management skills, you thrive under tight timeframes and can effectively manage a diverse range of multiple concurrent projects.
