About the role
We are now seeking strategic and hands‑on data leader to guide our high‑performing team in delivering smarter, more efficient regulatory outcomes whilst playing a key role to uplift processes, strengthen governance and drive reliable data solutions.
As Team Lead, Data Engineering you will bring expertise across data architecture, lifecycle management, software development, information security, and agile delivery.
Key responsibilities of this role are:
- Accountable and responsible for the team’s quality of data pipeline development and the flow of data on NHVR’s Enterprise Data Platform; measured by data integrity, pipeline performance, uptime, efficient administration, cost consideration, data security, data governance, and data architecture.
- Provide authoritative advice to Managers, Directors, and other senior staff across the organization regarding architecture, augmentation, implementation, and manageability of the data on the NHVR Enterprise Data Platform.
- Foster and maintain team culture of high performance and respect by creating psychologically safe place to work, showing alignment with other leaders, and adapting leadership styles to the situation at hand.
- Facilitate the team’s project planning from gathering business requirements, acquiring stakeholder alignment, collaborating over designs, and delivering solutions while maintaining Project Roadmap to meet business needs.
- Maintain authority and responsibility over cyber security decisions of the team’s technology including: data obfuscation and pseudonymisation security access models, developer access to GIT repos and development environments, security groups used by team, data sharing access, and other technologies as necessary.
- Lead the Data Engineering team by providing technical guidance, coaching for best performance, attending to human resource administration, and managing the employment lifecycle.
- Build a team that can implement, support, and maintain data workflows, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure environments through all stages of data life cycle management.
- Ensure team operates using modern development methodologies, including DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and change management with CAB approved releases.

About You
To be successful in this role you will possess a Master’s degree in information technology or computer science related or equivalent. You will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with demonstrated skills in Databricks and Azure cloud platform (certifications in either / both would be highly regarded) and have demonstrated experience in technical team leadership; including hiring, coaching and performance management.
Your toolkit for success:
- Experienced leading technical teams in SCRUM and Agile methods.
- Proven skills with RMDBS systems and concepts including normalisation, data modelling, schemas, and data profiling.
- Proven skills with object-oriented programming, design patterns, unit testing, CI/CD, and debugging.
- Proven skills with code reviews, software analysis, unit testing, and data quality testing.
- Demonstrated extensive skills and experience with ETL/ELT packages, pipelines, and API integrations.
- Demonstrated extensive skills and experience with classic and modern data exchange technologies.
- Demonstrated extensive skills and experience using big data concepts: structure, unstructured, streaming, data lake, governance, lineage, etc.
