About the role 

We are now seeking strategic and hands‑on data leader to guide our high‑performing team in delivering smarter, more efficient regulatory outcomes while playing a key role to uplift processes, strengthen governance and drive reliable data solutions.  

As Team Lead, Data Engineering you will bring expertise across data pipelines and architecture, data solution design and creation, technical team leadership, and agile delivery. 

Key responsibilities of this role are:  

  • Accountable and responsible for data pipeline development and the flow of data on the NHVR’s Enterprise Data Platform; including data quality, performance, cost monitoring, security, governance, and architecture.  
  • Provide authoritative and trusted advice to Managers, Directors, and other senior staff across the organisation regarding data solutions, augmentation, implementation, and use of data.  
  • Develop project plans from rough business requirements and collaborate to maintain Project Roadmaps to effectively direct Data Engineering staff work activity.  
  • Provide technical leadership to Data Engineers and Developers.  
  • Participate in rotating incident management duties which includes troubleshooting and resolution.

About You  

To be successful in this role you will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in all major aspects of Data Engineering, with demonstrated skills in Databricks and Azure cloud platform (certifications in either / both would be highly regarded). A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage, and Masters level would be highly regarded. 

Your toolkit for success: 

  • Proven practical skills and knowledge in structured data systems and concepts including ETL/ELT methods, data modelling, schema management, and data profiling.  
  • Demonstrated hands-on extensive skills and experience with design patterns, pipeline development, and API integrations.  
  • Demonstrated hands-on extensive skills and experience programming with common languages used in data engineering (Python, SQL etc) 
  • Proven skill and experience in leading, coaching and developing a team of Data Engineers.  
  • Demonstrated extensive skills and experience understanding and implementing data concepts: structured/unstructured/ streaming data, data lakes, governance, lineage, etc.  
  • Proven skills with design patterns and governance, including documentation, and navigating Design Authorities and approval processes. 
  • Proven skills with software version control tools, peer reviews, and DevOps release pipelines.  
  • Experience in championing and leading Agile methods and projects.  
  • Demonstrated experience positively collaborating with Data Governance, Cyber, IT Ops, and other development groups within an organisation.
