Join our team as a Procurement Support Officer, based at our Newstead head office, this role is the first point of contact for procurement enquiries and provides high-quality administrative and operational support to the Procurement team, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.  The role reports to the Procurement Governance and Systems Lead.

The Role

The Procurement Support Officer acts as the first point of contact for procurement enquiries, managing requests via the shared mailbox, responding to standard matters, and escalating complex issues as required. This role provides administrative support for routine procurement activities, including generating reference numbers, maintaining the procurement pipeline, and keeping SharePoint templates, procedures, and reporting documentation accurate and accessible. You will support procurement activities during peak periods, assist senior team members, provide leave coverage, contribute to projects, and help maintain team communication channels. The role involves participating in strategic planning, deriving insights from procurement data to inform decision-making, and ensuring all purchases comply with NHVR policies, governance standards, and legislative requirements. Additionally, you will maintain contract files, foster effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, support continuous improvement initiatives, and actively contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.  

About you

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors, stakeholders, and management. You will be committed to delivering excellent customer service, demonstrating high attention to detail, organisation, and time management. The role requires the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes and cost efficiencies, along with highly developed written and verbal communication skills. You will ideally have 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a procurement role and possess intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. You will also maintain client confidence and protect the professional integrity of the CEO, Executive, and Board by handling sensitive information with discretion in a politically sensitive environment.
